Keeping Your Dartboard Clean

Anything you buy always requires at least a minimal amount of maintenance. You have to do your laundry, clean your house, and wash your dishes. Well, the same goes for furniture and accessories in your home. When using a dartboard, whether it is electronic or cork, it is extremely important to keep an eye on it and make sure it stays clean.

Let’s start with an electronic dartboard, since they have easy upkeep. If you have your dartboard in your game room or basement, you have to take into account the things it comes in contact with. Whatever is on the tips of your darts and your fingers, will get on your board. Also, keep in mind that things in the air such as cigarette smoke will cling to your board, creating a film over the face. In order to maintain your dartboard, you will simply need to wipe it down with a dry cloth. Make sure the cloth is clean and completely dry, as water could damage the board. This will get any dirt from you, your friends, and the air off the board and give your dartboard a fresh new look.

Now, onto a regular dartboard made with cork. There is a myth floating around that it is good to spray the cork with water to keep it hydrated. This myth is completely FALSE! Water will severely damage your board and could also cause bubbling which will completely ruin your game. The best thing you can do about dirt on your board is to blot the surface with only a slightly damp cloth. Now when I say damp, this means make sure if you push on the cloth or twist it, absolutely NO liquid gets squeezed out of it.

Dried up cork is another common problem with dartboards. This also has a similar, quick fix. Take the board off the wall and lay it flat. Remember that damp cloth you previously had? Well, get it again and lay it out over the dartboard. Leave it sit overnight, and your problems will be fixed!

As always, if your dartboard is dirty or dry beyond repair, you may have to consider parting ways with it and purchasing a new one. After implementing these tips your game will be back to where it should be. If you need any further information about dartboards or similar products, please feel free to visit my website.
